Dermal Fillers

Fillers can enhance the skin and improve your profile by smoothing lines and plumping up areas of lost elasticity and restoring lost volume. Tiny amounts of the gel-like filler are injected with a very fine needle or cannula into the areas requiring treatment and results are instant.

Fillers can be used to augment and contour the chin and lips, define your jaw line, sculpt cheekbones, fill lines such as those that run from the nose to the mouth and reduce any tired or sunken look you may want to enhance.

Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body. Hyaluronic acid has excellent visco-elasticity, a high moisture retention capacity and compatibility to body fluid.

Further information is detailed below for the specific areas you may wish to have treated. We do always recommend patients do their research before booking in for any aesthetic treatments.

As part of this, we recommend all patients attend for a consultation with Lisa to discuss options, desired results and risks even if you have previously had this procedure carried out at another clinic.

Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement is one of the UK’s most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments. Dermal fillers are placed in the lips to produce a natural, soft, plump appearance. This can be done across multiple visits to gradually enhance the lips slowly to ensure they suit the face and the patient is happy.

At the Castle Clinic we have the tools and expertise to deliver the filler via a combination of small injections and cannula which creates a much more natural looking result. This method prevents lumps as it evenly distributes the filler into the lips whilst subtly defining the border.

At the Castle Clinic our aim is to enhance your natural beauty. We do not do Trout Pouts, Russian Lips or deliver large amounts of filler to create an artificial look.

  • To create fuller upper & lower lip
  • To reduce fine lines around the mouth
  • To lift corners of the mouth
  • To erase “smokers’ lines”
  • To enhance the shape and definition of the lips
  • To even out unbalanced lips

Non-Surgical Nose Reshaping

Many people feel that the shape and size of their nose can have a big effect on their overall appearance. After all, it’s the central feature of your face, and if it’s not in proportion or is hooked or bent, your self-confidence can really suffer.

Up until quite recently, most people thought that the only option was surgical rhinoplasty. However, over the past 10 years, non-surgical nose reshaping has developed and become more and more popular, especially for people that have decided invasive surgery combined with a long and painful recovery times wasn’t for them.

What is it and How Does it Work

This particular treatment is a medical procedure which involves the altering or reshaping of the nose with injectable fillers. By filling in depressions, smoothing out sharp angles and improving the symmetry of the nose, these injectable fillers can give it a more streamlined appearance without surgery.

What Results Can I Expect
The procedure can be performed quickly and easily – it usually takes between fifteen and thirty minutes – and results are immediate. The fillers used in non-surgical rhinoplasty are temporary and will be broken down by the body naturally after time.

This treatment is a non-invasive and painless alternative to a more dramatic rhinoplasty. The treatment lasts up to 18 months.

Tear Trough/Eye Bag Correction

The eyes are often the first place to really be affected by the signs of ageing. The tear trough is the area beneath the eye and the upper cheek, as we age the area loses volume and the skin becomes thinner and starts to droop. This results in the tear trough becoming deeper and darker in appearance and eye bags can start to appear. A similar problem can occur in younger people due to fat hypoplasia and genetic factors.

Whilst invasive surgical procedures used to be the go-to treatment for eyes affected by ageing, for those who are not ready to consider surgical options it is possible to achieve real improvements with non-surgical treatment. Advances in non-surgical cosmetic procedures mean that it’s possible to rejuvenate the eyes without considerable down-time using dermal fillers.

Cheek Enhancement/Facial Contouring

Cheeks are a very important feature of the face. As we age, the structures of our face change, not just the quality of our skin, but also the underlying support, including the skull, muscles and fat! This causes the face to shrink in some places, fat and muscle descend with gravity and the skin having become thinner and less elastic, no longer ‘fits’. This leads to the formation of jowls (the sag around the chin area) and naso-labial lines/folds (the line from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth).

People age differently; some may lose fullness or volume, some may find the volume descends – droops or sags or even both. Replacing volume in the cheeks is therefore of high importance when rejuvenating the face. With inadequate cheek volume, the face no longer has the natural youthful curves provided by fuller cheeks. Furthermore, the mid cheek can support the lower eyelid, and in many cases, adding volume to the cheeks can improve the appearance of under eye bags and hollows.

One of the advantages of treating the cheeks is that it lifts the entire face and reduces naso-labial lines and jowls. The shape of the face can be reverted to a youthful ‘upside down triangle’. Cheek enhancement is performed using an injectable dermal filler to temporarily improve the volume of the cheeks, increasing definition and fullness.

Jawline Enhancement

As the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag, the jawline starts to appear soft and lacking definition. Dermal fillers are used to fill in the lines, add volume where it has been lost, create a lifting effect, and camouflage the look of jowls with strategically placed filler.

When it comes to using jawline fillers to correct the signs of ageing, dermal fillers are useful to also help restore collagen and elastin, two substances responsible for maintaining a youthful volume and the skin’s ability to bounce back. This will result in the jawline area appearing both tighter and lifted.

Results

Fillers are not permanent and the results usually last between 6 and 18 months. Influencing factors include the type of filler and where it’s injected.

Treatment is not recommended if

  • You have a heightened sensitivity towards hyaluronic acid
  • you have an active, local infection (bacterial or viral) such as herpes
  • You are pregnant or breast feeding
  • You have problems with the functioning of the immune system

Side Effects of Dermal Fillers

The affected area may be a bit red, sore and swollen. Any swelling or bruising should settle down in a few days.
Serious problems are rare but can include:

  • Infection
  • A lumpy appearance under the skin which may need treating with surgery
  • The filler migrating away from the intended treatment area
  • blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness

Dermal fillers are a medical procedure and should always be treated as such.
