PurpleLight broadband light treatment
Clearer looking skin starts with understanding your skin. At The Castle Clinic, we use PurpleLight broadband light to address selected concerns such as sun spots, uneven skin tone, facial redness and small visible vessels. We address your skin first to recommend treatment only when it is suitable for you.
What is PurpleLight broadband light
PurpleLight delivers short pulses of filtered light to the skin. Depending on the treatment selected, the light can be absorbed by brown pigment or by the red colour in small blood vessels. This can help soften the appearance of certain sun spots and visible redness over time. It is a light treatment, not a skin resurfacing laser.
What could it help with
- Sun spots and some other superficial brown marks
- Redness and small visible facial vessels
- Uneven looking skin tone associated with sun exposure
The cause of a brown mark matters. Not every type of pigmentation responds well to light treatment. For example, melasma may worsen with light or heat. We will assess any area of concern before advising whether PurpleLight is appropriate.
What happens at an appointment
We begin with a consultation and skin assessment. Please tell us about recent sun exposure or tanning, your skincare, medicines, any sensitivity to light and any previous reactions to light treatments. If treatment is suitable, you will wear protective eyewear. You may feel brief warmth or a light snapping sensation as the handpiece passes over the skin. We will explain your individual treatment plan and aftercare.
What can I expect afterwards
Your skin may look pink or feel warm for a short time; some people develop temporary swelling. Treated brown spots can look darker before gradually fading or shedding. Avoid picking or scrubbing them. The response varies with the concern treated and the settings used, so we will tell you what to expect for your own treatment.
Follow the aftercare instructions we give you, protect the area from sun exposure and use the sun protection we recommend. Contact the clinic if you develop marked pain, blistering, increasing swelling or another reaction that worries you.
Less common risks include blistering, changes in skin colour and, rarely, scarring or infection. We will discuss risks relevant to your skin at the consultation.
How many treatments will I need
Some people notice a change after one session, but a course may be recommended. The number and spacing of treatments depend on your skin, the concern being treated and your response. We will discuss this at your consultation rather than promise a fixed result.
Is it suitable for everyone
No. Recent tanning or sun exposure, certain medicines, photosensitivity, active skin problems and your skin type may affect whether and how we can treat you. A new or changing pigmented lesion needs appropriate clinical assessment before cosmetic light treatment. PurpleLight is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis.
Book a consultation
If you would like to improve the look of pigmentation or redness, book a skin consultation at The Castle Clinic in Beeston. We can assess the concern, explain whether PurpleLight is suitable and build a plan around your skin.
