Tooth Grinding
If a mild apnoea is detected, the patient may be a suitable candidate for a mandibular advancement device which has been proven to improve sleep quality, reduce bruxism and improve overall airway opening and oxygen quality. These devices are also recommended by Sleep Centres, ENT, Sleep and Respiratory Physicians, Orthodontists and General Medical Practitioners.
If a moderate to severe apnoea is suspected, it is advisable for the patient to be referred to a Respiratory Physician at the hospital. As Lisa is an accredited clinician in sleep studies, she is able to refer directly which significantly reduces the waiting time for a patient if they were to be referred by a GP.
